Tina Turner Riff

Gams.  The lady’s got great gams.  Pipes.  She can sing her butt off.  Integrity.  No matter what came down the line in her life she stuck to her guns.  She didn’t go the easier, softer R&B-only route and didn’t give in to what other people thought she should do.

Since the queen isn't touring much any more and may very well be headed toward retirement mode, I’m wondering who’s next.  Who is the next Tina Turner?

Could it be Beyoncé?  She’s an amazing artist and a great dancer and yes, I know she nailed the "Proud Mary" duet with Turner at the 2008 Grammy Awards

But raw rock, extended belting vocal power is not Beyoncé’s thing.   Her voice is much better suited for R&B and pop songs.

What about Grace Potter of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals?  In an interview with Cee Lo Green, Potter said Turner was one of the few female rockers who really inspired her.

According to the band’s website they are  “...like a modern-day version of Tina Turner stroking the microphone in a spangled mini-dress while fronting the Rolling Stones circa Sticky Fingers”.

Potter has not yet shown us dancing skills that rival those of Turner's and although she does have that raw rock, extended belting vocal power, her ability to morph into a true Tina Turner styled performer still remains to be seen.

Nikka Costa?  Divinity Roxx?  Some unknown church singer living in the Nutbush city limits?  Who’s next?
